About 1015 Folsom

Deep down inside its heart, 1015 Folsom knows what it is.  The swanky interior design, the sprawling interior, the long list of incredible, not-quite-mainstream superstars, the casual dress code, the unpretentiousness…1015 is what dance clubs were before the money, fame, and see-and-be-seen scene became the main reason to go out.

Massive by San Francisco standards, 1015 is spread out over three floors and 20,000 square feet.  Featuring five separate areas, all with their own bar and DJ setup.  Entering through the slinky Sutra Lounge, with its low, glowing ceilings and circular bar, you can get into the cavernous main room, with its elevated stage, sizable projection screens, liquid, LED-lit waterfall wall, and wide open dance floor.  Upstairs you’ll find the Soft Cell lounge, a more intimate space, and opposite that, you’ll see The Loft, a Moroccan-themed VIP mezzanine and bottle service area.  The Cirque lounge, located in the basement, is a circular affair, whose dance floor is surrounded by high-backed, red vinyl booth seating.

Given the size of the place and number of different rooms, you can expect a diverse range of people, although mostly the younger, rambunctious party-til-you-drop types, with a smattering of the the trendy upscale set, with plenty of hipsters, artsy types, glam girls and bros.  It gets loud, sweaty and crowded.  It’s meant to, it is after all a dance club.  Dress code may vary, but for the most part its casual trendy, from classy to trashy.

Musically 1015 earns the reputation it’s acquired as a repeated winner of various local and national “Best Of” lists.  The talent ranges from the bass-heavy EDM of Freq Nasty and Bassnectar, and the dupstep sets of Skream and Benga, to the hipster hip hop of Busdriver, Aesop Rock, El P, and Kreayshawn. Along the way, they’ve played host to Adam Freeland, Diplo, Z-Trip, Goldie, Passion Pit, and Paul Van Dyke, among a long, long list of other incredible acts.  Pura Saturdays, a weekly Latin rhythm party, adds to an already broad range of musical genres to pick from on any given night.
