About Slide SF

The elegance and style of Prohibition-era San Francisco have been rehabbed and reborn in Slide, one of the latest wave of upscale, lounge-style nightclubs popping up around club land.  Situated in what actually used to be a secret hideaway type establishment called Café Dans, Slide has gone all-in on recreating decadent richness of the times.

Smaller, with a capacity of around 300, the place is split into two areas, the bar and dance floor on one side and bottle service sections on the other, with additional seating and booths towards the back.

Deep, polished mahogany covers a good portion of the place, with plush furniture, high-backed booths, gorgeous moldings and a pretty stunning crystal chandelier. Little accents, whether it’s the subtle patterns on the fabrics and wallpaper, period era furniture, or the massive mirror by the entrance, all lend something to the ambiance, creating a really unique setting. The bar is a pretty piece of work, backlit honey-onyx.  Also, they have a baby grand piano in the place, and keeping with the times, its been modified into a DJ rig.  Which is kinda cool.

The music leans towards house, with detours into all sorts of other genres depending on who’s playing.  The list of talent that has come through to spin on Slide’s Avalon sound system includes a good mix of established locals, up-and-coming national talent, and the occasional big name like Hernan Cattaneo, Cedric Gervais or 16 Bit Lolitas.

One of the biggest draws of Slide, is of course, the slide they have installed if taking the stairs isn’t a grand enough way for you to make your entrance.  But fair warning, there is a dress code to ride the slide, for reasons of safety and dignity.

The crowd is pretty diverse, and the dress code is stylish, semi-casual, trendy chic.
