About Studio 8

In its current incarnation Studio 8 is the best choice in San Jose if you’re looking for a rowdy, somewhat stylish, mega-club sized place playing the currently trendy blend of mostly hip hop, Top 40, dance pop with some EDM mixed in for good effect.  The space itself is huge, with cavernous ceilings housing a warehouse-style club, a couple bars lining the walls with a go-go platform topping the main bar, plenty of seating, VIP cabanas for bottle service (each with their own stripper pole and plush red leather couches).  The main floor by the bar is carpeted, which can get a little sticky, but the dance floor is not.  Massive columns line the interior.  Upstairs in the mezzanine, you’ll find additional VIP seating with a view of the main floor.  The lighting and DJ setups are pretty good, with lots of video screens – including a huge one behind the DJ booth, plenty of LED lighting, lots of backlit features, and a laser rig.  Fog and smoke machines add to the atmosphere.

Musically the place tends to be pretty mainstream, with a rotating lineup of established local talent (DJ Zhaldee, DJ Weapon), a pretty stellar cast of open format touring DJs (Las Vegas resident DJ Scene,  open format hero DJ Cobra, and Graham Funke), and all sorts of live performances, from the hip hop of Clyde Carson and Krayzie Bone, to the clubby, hip hop pop of Bobby Brackins, SoCal heroes the Go Gettas, dance pop stars HyperCrush.  Occasional EDM acts like Chicago’s Jump Smokers have also been known to drop by.

Celebrity hosts are plentiful with most of the male cast of Jersey Shore, porn queen Jenna Jameson, UFC ring girl Arianne Celeste, Nikki Minaj and a long list of others stopping in to party the night away.

The crowds tend to be early- to mid-twenties, trendy, stylish, but not necessarily dress to impress.  With the younger crowd comes all of the things you usually get, loud, a little rowdy, sometimes overly so, but they come ready to party and Studio 8 is a their place to do it.
